Whoo! Life is good!
Can I just state how grateful I am for the holidays? This week looks like it is going to be awesome. I GOT INVITED TO PARTIES GUYS!! I have friends! Seriously, they exist!
THANKSgiving (yeah it’s cheesy, deal with it)
So… stream of consciousness time. It’s Thanksgiving break and I have quite a bit on my mind right now. Some good, some bad, but mostly it’s nice to sit back and realize just how good you have it. I’m gonna take a moment of your time to help you remember to be thankful for the good things in life.
I am thankful for mundane things. I finally get to sleep in my own bed (YEAH!) this weekend. Between my room having to be remodeled and having the exchange student stay at our house I haven’t been able to stay in my room and sleep in my own bed. I missed it. I’m also thankful for random happenings. I am so glad I have health insurance again. I am appreciative of my glasses. I missed my car. I am ecstatic to be able to play my music *almost* as loud as I want to because I’m not sharing my room with anyone this weekend.

I missed my kitty cat.
I am grateful for the people in my life, family and otherwise. I get along so much better with my mom when we don’t have to see each other for more than a few days at a time. I have so many lovely people rooting for me to keep my head up, nose to the grindstone, overused cliche, et cetera. I also have some of the nicest friends in the world that never cease to amuse and amaze me.
I can’t really sum it up in a post without being sappy though. It comes and goes in flashes: a surprisingly strong hug from someone you missed more than you realized, a spontaneous meeting over coffee to feel the glow of a friend’s smile, an unexpected reunion, shy smiles and clasped hands.
I get a little mushy around the holidays. Sue me. You can either choose to gripe about the shitty things (grumpy relatives, crazy work shifts, being bloated by the abundance of food) - and I’m not denying the existence of said shitty things, or you can choose to pay attention to the good things this time of year brings. Yeah it sucks, but hopefully the good things will stick out a little more to you in the passing weeks.
